1. HISTORY

The perpetual trophy for this event was donated by Mrs. Olga Rees in 1958 as a replacement for the Woorilla Trophy which was first presented for competition in 1925.  Olga Rees had won the Woorilla Trophy three times, entitling her to keep it in her possession. 

 

Olga Rees was a Member from 1946 to 1992 and Club Champion on 9 occasions. Lady Captain from 1958 to 1959 and a member of the 1950 Pennant Team which was the first Yarra Yarra Team to win the Pennant. Olga Rees also played on winning Pennant Teams in 1951, 1959, 1964 and 1970. She held the course record between 1966 and 1974 and won the Victorian Foursomes Championship twice in 1950 with Jean Christian and in 1958 with Maureen Day. Following many years of outstanding service to the Club Olga Rees was honoured in 1981 with life membership.   

2. EVENT TYPE     

  •  Honour Board and Perpetual Trophy.

3. COMPETITION

  • Singles handicap knock out match play event over 18 holes match play as scheduled in the golf program.
  • Each round will have a play by date listed in the golf program with matches to be played by that date.
  • In the event that a match is square after 18 holes, play shall continue from Hole 1 in sudden death until a decision is reached. Strokes will be taken again as at the start of the match.

4. ENTRY

  • Entry is open to all eligible playing female members (refer to general clause 2)
  • The maximum Daily Handicap for any player competing is 36. Players with a higher handicap may enter with their Daily handicap capped at 36.   
  • Competitors shall nominate for the event by entering their names on the entry sheet.
  • Any player who cannot be available to play in all of the subsequent match play rounds is asked not to enter the competition to avoid walkovers.
  • A random draw will be conducted with all entries with matches to be played by dates published in the golf program. The draw is final when it is published.

5. HANDICAPS

  • Players shall use their current GA daily handicap on the day of the match.
  • For the purpose of determining where strokes are to be taken in match play, the player with the lowest handicap in the match will be deemed to be zero and the opponent’s handicap will be adjusted accordingly, and the universal match play index used with full handicap shots allocated.

6. PRESENTATIONS

  • Presentation of the Olga Rees Match Play Winner and Runner Up Trophies will be made on Club Championship Day.
