1. History
Herbert Darvall was Club President in 1911 and 1912, and Club Captain in 1913 and 1916, when the Club was still at Rosanna. In 1937 he donated a cup to the Club as a perpetual trophy for an annual competition which was to be known as the Founders’ Cup. In 1953 the Committee revised the conditions of play to run as an aggregate handicap stroke event to be played over two consecutive Saturday rounds.
The winner is entitled the right ‘to have the trophy tankard filled at the expense of any member, at the cost of two shillings and sixpence, but not more frequently than once per day.’ The Committee has since ruled that the cost will remain at 25 cents.

Honour Board and Perpetual Trophy.
3. Competition
- Played over 36 Holes, with the best net score the winner.
- The competition shall be played on the the blue course.
- A professional golfer is not allowed to caddy for any competitor.
- The only competitors permitted to use any ride-on equipment or golf carts are those members who have previously been given written permission by the Board. In exceptional medical circumstances, competitors may seek special dispensation from the Captain, or in their absence, a member of the Golf Committee to use ride-on equipment.
4. Eligibility
- Open to Life, 7 Day, Young and eligible Junior Members.
5. Ties
- In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a play-off to be scheduled by the Golf Committee.
- Tieists are not required to play together.
- In the event of a further tie the winner shall be determined by the GA countback system, applied to the play-off round. Handicap will be as at the first day of play.
6. Entry
- All competitors recorded on the timesheet for Round 1 will be entered into the competition.
- The timesheet used for the first round will apply for the second round with the exception that the starting holes will be reversed.
7. Presentations
- Presentations of trophies will be made at the Championship Day presentations. Winners will be acknowledged and photographed.
