Rules Education
Posted on: 13 November
On Tuesday 12 November Golf Australia and USGA rules expert Stuart McPhee hosted a rules education evening for Members with the room full of highly engaged Members wanting to improve their practical knowledge of the rules of golf.
The session covered common situations found on the course at Yarra Yarra and it is safe to say that every person in the room left with an improved knowledge on the practical implementation of the rules.
With a Q and A session indoors as well as a course walk the sessions focused on the 5 rules that most commonly affect golf and the way it is played.
The importance of rule 1.2 was emphasized all through the session:
Rule 1.2a Conduct Expected of All Players
All players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by:
- Acting with integrity – for example, by following the Rules, applying all penalties, and being honest in all aspects of play.
- Showing consideration to others – for example, by playing at a prompt pace, looking out for the safety of others, and not distracting the play of another player. If a player plays a ball in a direction where there might be a danger of hitting someone, they should immediately shout a warning, such as the traditional warning of “fore”.
- Taking good care of the course – for example, by replacing divots, smoothing bunkers, repairing ball-marks, and not causing unnecessary damage to the course.
The next session is being held on Tuesday 22 November at 6.00 pm to book CLICK HERE
