Victoria Interclub Match

The 24th annual Interclub match between Yarra Yarra and Victoria Golf Clubs was contested at Yarra Yarra on Saturday 9 November.
In perfect golfing conditions Yarra Yarra defeated Victoria 5 1/2 to 1/2, the visitors struggling to come to terms with the greens at Yarra.

At a VGA meeting (now Golf Victoria) in 1998 the then President of Yarra Yarra Golf Club, Graeme Harrison approached Bob Vance of Victoria Golf Club to propose an Interclub Match to be held as a ‘trial’ day.
Both Clubs agreed to host the ‘trial’ day in 1998. Yarra Yarra won the match and following the event wrote to Victoria’s Captain of that time, Geoff Couples advising all members involved thought the day successful, with his reply to be in agreement.
Following the success of this first event the Interclub Match is now a permanent fixture in each Club’s golfing calendar.
