Les Shaw Memorial Shield Entries Open on May 17

The Shaw Shield is the premier pairs event for men at Yarra Yarra. A four ball match play knockout competition first played in 1948. The trophy was donated by Member Phil Oates to commemorate the contribution of Les Shaw in developing the site at Bentleigh East. Les Shaw served on Committee in 1927 and 1928. After becoming Club Captain in 1929, he served a further term on Committee from 1931 to 1935. He provided excellent liaison between the course designer Alex Russell, the green keeper and the Committee as the course was being constructed
