Junior Pennant Round 2
Posted on: 21 October
The Junior Eagles traveled to the Heritage for round 2 on Sunday 20 October on an overcast day with a gusty breeze. The course was wet in some areas due to the heavy rain but played quite well.
The slow greens caught a few of our players out early and had our caddies working hard. Jack Susic was in for his first game and had father and very experienced pennant legend Ian on the bag. Jack got off to a great start winning his first six holes. He never looked back with a resounding 9 and 8 victory.
Vivian Zhai was also playing her first match. Down a couple early, she fought back with the encouragement of Russell Walsh to finally win a seesawing match 2 and 1.
Edward Chen playing at number one, and with Corey keeping him focused hit the front early and played well to win 7 and 5. With three wins on the board, Oscar Hu, with father Wei supporting him, got the team over the line with a 3 and 2 victory in a match that was square for most of the day.
The final two matches were also hard fought with the Heritage getting over the line in both. Jaidon Herath with Anton caddying went down on the seventeenth in a match that had never more than one hole separating them. James Andrews hit the ball very well all day and had Simone working hard, but his opponent kept sinking long putts which proved very decisive when the match ended on the sixteenth.
Thanks again for all the support from the parents and caddies.
Round 3 is Sunday 27 October at Woodlands Golf Club at 1.00 pm.
