H. G. McRoberts Yarra Yarra Cup

Congratulations to David Bedwell on winning the H. G. McRoberts Yarra Yarra Cup.

In a match that ebbed and flowed David won the final 4 holes to come from 2 down after 13 holes to win 2 /1 over Nick Michael.

Nick started strongly to get out to a lead of 4 up before David responded to be all square through the turn. Nick the played some high class golf between 10 and 13 to get to 2 up before a late charge from David led him to victory on the 17th green 2 and 1.

Congratulations to both David and Nick on playing a wonderful match.

In 1924, H G McRoberts donated a trophy to be known as the Yarra Yarra Cup. H G McRoberts was President of the Club when the decision was made to move from Rosanna to Bentleigh East, and continued in this position for a record period of 17 years (from 1915 to 1931). He was president of The Victorian Golf Association until 1937. In 1951 the Committee honoured him by renaming the cup the H G McRoberts Yarra Yarra Cup.
